Sixty-four
members of the official choir of the Russian armed forces, men and
women, were on the doomed plane, plus Lt-Gen Valeri Khalilov, the
Alexandrov's conductor.
The Alexandrov, which also includes an orchestra and dancers, also known as the Red Army Choir, created in 1928.
It
takes its name from its first director, Alexander Vasilyevich
Alexandrov, who wrote the music to the national anthem of the Soviet
Union.
Responding to news of the disaster in an interview,
celebrated Russian actor Vasili Lanovoy could barely control his
emotions as he explained the ensemble's significance:
"When I was
a kid, during the [Nazi] occupation in 1941, I heard their 'Stand up,
great country' for the first time, on the third day of the war.
"And
when I heard yesterday, I was stunned. I think it is a great ensemble
and it needs to be revived. It should not disappear."
One
of Russia's best-known humanitarian figures, Yelizaveta Glinka - known
popularly as Dr Liza - was executive director of the Fair Aid charity.

the Russian capital, she is mostly remembered for feeding, clothing and
providing medical care to the homeless people who sleep in train
stations.
"Liza Glinka helped the people that everyone turned
away," human rights activist and opposition journalist Zoya Svetova, who
knew her, told AFP news agency.
She was also known for evacuating
sick and injured children from the war-torn separatist regions of east
Ukraine, for treatment in Moscow.
Her actions in Ukraine brought
her the enmity of some on the Ukrainian government side, who went so far
as to accuse her of "abducting" children, while she was also criticised
in Russia herself for her political views.
But tributes were paid to her right across the political spectrum in Russia.
Mikhail
Khodorkovsky, the former oil tycoon jailed under President Vladimir
Putin, said: "She was ready to lay down her life for what she thought
right. And she did so. Our disagreements are in the past. May she be
eternally remembered."
Margarita Simonyan, head of Russian state
broadcaster RT, wrote: "Dr Liza was a person who attracted nothing but
admiration. Not for herself, it was never about her, only about the
sick."
Just a few weeks before the crash, Dr Glinka was quoted (in Russian) as saying: "We are never sure we'll come back alive because war is hell on earth."

Their deaths became the subject of a furious row on Russian social media after socialite Bozhena Rynska suggested on Facebook (in Russian) that some of them had been killed as divine retribution for past misreporting by pro-Kremlin media.
Her comments are now being investigated by Russian prosecutors, an official told Russia's Ria news agency.

The Russian ambassador to Turkey has been shot dead by a police officer who shouted “Don’t forget Aleppo” as he pulled the trigger.
The chilling attack on Monday evening, which was captured on video,
appeared to be a backlash against Russian military involvement in the
Syrian civil war.
Andrei Karlov was attacked at the opening of an art exhibition in
Ankara by a man believed to be an off-duty Turkish police officer.
Karlov was several minutes into a speech when he was shot. Footage of
the attack showed a man dressed in a suit and tie standing calmly behind
the ambassador. He then pulled out a gun, shouted “Allahu Akbar” and
fired at least eight shots.
After firing at the ambassador, the man shouted in Turkish: “Don’t forget Aleppo. Don’t forget Syria.
Unless our towns are secure, you won’t enjoy security. Only death can
take me from here. Everyone who is involved in this suffering will pay a
price.”
He also shouted in Arabic: “We are the one who pledged allegiance to Muhammad, to wage jihad.”
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, called the killing a
“provocation” aimed at sabotaging a rapprochement between Moscow and
Ankara and attempts to resolve the conflict in Syria.
“The crime that was committed is without doubt a provocation aimed at
disrupting the normalisation of Russian-Turkish relations and
disrupting the peace process in Syria that is being actively advanced by
Russia, Turkey and Iran,” he said in televised comments.
Putin said: “There can be only one answer to this - stepping up the fight against terrorism, and the bandits will feel this.”
Putin said that Russian officials would be dispatched to Ankara to
investigate the killing. “We have to know who directed the hand of the
killer,” he said.
Turkish special forces surrounded the gallery and killed the
attacker. Photographs from the aftermath appeared to show him lying dead
on the floor. Three other people were wounded.

Local media outlets said security guards at the scene had told them
that the killer showed a police ID to enter the gallery. The Turkish
interior ministry named the attacker as Mevlut Mert Altıntas, an officer
in Ankara’s riot police squad, who was born in 1994 in Aydin and
graduated from Izmir police academy.

“It
has saddened us and our people. I offer my condolences to the Russian
federation and the Russian people,” Suleyman Soylu, the Turkish interior
minster, told reporters.
The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, called Putin on Monday evening to brief him on the attack.
The Russian president cancelled a planned trip to the theatre on
Monday evening and called an urgent meeting with his foreign minister,
Sergei Lavrov, and the heads of the security services.
In a bizarre coincidence, Putin had planned to see the play Woe from
Wit, written by the poet and diplomat Alexander Griboyedov, who was
murdered by a mob when ambassador to Tehran in 1829.
Konstantin Kosachev, the head of the foreign relations committee in
Russia’s upper house of parliament, said: “A tragedy of this scale has
not happened since the time of Griboyedov. There have been attacks on
our Russian and Soviet diplomats, but not something this dramatic.”
Kosachev said the repercussions of the killing on Russian-Turkish
relations would depend on the details of the incident: “It could have
been a planned terrorist attack by extremists or it could be the work of
a lone maniac. After we know, we’ll be able to understand how this will
affect Russian-Turkish relations.”
Kosachev’s counterpart in the lower house, Alexey Pushkov, said
Karlov’s death was “a result of political and media hysteria around
Aleppo sown by the enemies of Russia”.
Turkish security officials and Erdoğan supporters have alleged that
the gunman was linked to the exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen, whom
they accuse of orchestrating a failed coup in July. A spokesman for
Gülen described the accusation as “laughable” and told Reuters that it
was intended to cover up for lax security.
Internationally, the killing throws into doubt the ongoing evacuation
deal for civilians in besieged east Aleppo, an agreement that was
brokered by Turkey and Russia. A source with knowledge of the
negotiations said Moscow was the main reason the deal did not fall apart
over the weekend, despite the objections of Iranian and jihadi
interlocutors.
The ambassador had been part of discussions with Turkey that led to
an evacuation of east Aleppo getting under way late last week. Russia
and Iran engineered the deal allowing civilians and rebel fighters in
Aleppo to be evacuated, with Turkey acting as the brokers for the Syrian
opposition in the discussion.
The attack comes the day before the Turkish foreign minister, Mevlüt
Çavuşoğlu, is due in Moscow for Syria talks with his Russian and Iranian
counterparts. In the weeks running up to the fall of east Aleppo, the
Russians, Turks and Iranians have increasingly been working together on
Syria’s future, to the exclusion of western powers, including the US, as
well as the Gulf states, normally the sponsors of the Syrian
opposition.
Putin has sought to capitalise on his new role as the lead power in
Syria by proposing wider Syrian peace talks at a meeting in Astana, the
capital of Kazakhstan, to be attended by Russia, Turkey and Iran on 27
December. Putin insisted his proposal would not conflict with the United
Nations process in Geneva, but instead complement it. He wants to forge
a Turkish, Iranian and Russian axis before Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Many Syrian opposition figures fear they will be marginalised by the Putin initiative and his new triumvirate.
In his time as ambassador, Karlov presided over a rocky period in Russo-Turkish relations. When Turkey shot down a Russian fighter plane in November 2015, Moscow responded furiously, with Putin calling it “a stab in the back by the accomplices of terrorists”.

Earlier this year, the pair reconciled, after Erdoğan wrote a letter
of apology to Putin. The two leaders met at a summit in August amid a distinct thaw in relations and in what resembles a loose anti-western alliance.
Kosachev, who knew Karlov personally, said: “The Turkish period in
his career saw fantastic highs and lows. Everyone was hoping for another
high.”
However, Russian actions in Syria have angered many Turks. In recent
days, protests in Istanbul against Russian involvement in Syria and
Aleppo, including a demonstration in front of the Russian consulate on
the city’s famed İstiklal Avenue, have occurred on a regular basis. The
protests have often had a significant Islamist contingent.
The assassination of the Russian ambassador, and the security lapse
that allowed it to happen, will anger Putin but, in the medium term, it
is possible that the two leaders could unite in an anti-terror alliance.
Fatih Öke, the press attache of Turkey’s embassy in Washington DC, tweeted:
“The bullet to Ambassador Karlov is not only aims him. It aims also
Turkish Russian relation. We are praying for his good health and peace.”
US President-elect Donald Trump said in a statement: “Today we offer
our condolences to the family and loved ones of Russian Ambassador to
Turkey Andrei Karlov, who was assassinated by a radical Islamic
terrorist. The murder of an ambassador is a violation of all rules of
civilized order and must be universally condemned.”
The US state department spokesman, John Kirby, said: “We condemn this
act of violence, whatever its source. Our thoughts and prayers are with
him and his family.” Karlov was a career diplomat who had previously served as ambassador to North Korea. The British ambassador to Turkey, Richard Moore, described him as a “quietly spoken, hospitable professional”. Additional reporting by Ceren Kenar

Former Guard Launches Hunger Strike to Protest Private Prison Company
Activists want San Diego County to cancel its contracts with the Corrections Corporation of America.

When the Corrections Corporation of America bought two halfway houses in San Diego for $36 million in 2013, the company seemed committed to maintaining the status quo. CCA said
it hoped guards and other employees at the facilities, known as
"residential reentry" centers, would stay on. The company also announced
that it would continue operating the facilities under the old owner's
name, Corrections Alternatives, because of its "strong and positive
reputation."
Yet according to a former guard, CCA's acquisition led to cutbacks in
staff, food, and programming meant to help inmates reintegrate into the
community. "The transition was ridiculous," says Mark Bartlett, who
worked at the Ocean View
reentry facility until he was fired in 2015. "It's turned into a
business where they're cutting corners on everything. Whether it's with
cutting staff on payroll, cutting food, the lack of nutrition, cutting
programming."
Bartlett, a 33-year-old who served as an Army prison guard in
Afghanistan and grew up near the San Diego facility, kicked off a hunger
strike on Tuesday evening to protest what he sees as poor conditions at
Ocean View. He and a group of local activists have drawn up a list of demands,
compiled with the input of current inmates. Their top demand is that
San Diego County end its contracts with CCA—and they want federal and
state agencies to do the same. Bartlett says he will not eat until the
demands are met.
While he was a guard at Ocean View, Bartlett says he began reporting
issues, including forged documentation of searches and falsified hours
spent training guards, to the facility's director and to CCA's human
resources office.He says he took a "stress leave" from
his job last August after he found that working in the prison was
triggering his PTSD. When he couldn't set a date to return to work, he
says, the company let him go.
Bartlett doesn't have records documenting the alleged conditions
inside Ocean View. He is demanding that the federal Bureau of Prisons
release its audits of the facility, and that San Diego police and fire
departments disclose community complaints about Ocean View, as well as
records of emergency calls there. He is also demanding official
investigations of staffing levels, narcotics use, sanitation, and
medical care at Ocean View.
CCA spokesman Jonathan Burns said that the company’s San Diego
facilities are "appropriately staffed," and that their staffing patterns
are approved by public agencies. According to Burns, CCA's only cutback
at Ocean View in 2013 was eliminating a single administrative position.
He also says that CCA has no record of Bartlett making formal
allegations regarding employee training logs.
CCA, the country's second-largest private prison operator,
leases the reentry facility at Ocean View, which houses local, state,
and federal inmates. It also owns Boston Avenue, a federal reentry
facility in San Diego, and the Otay Mesa Detention Facility,
a 1,500-bed federal immigration detention center south of the city. Its
acquisition of the Ocean View and Boston Avenue facilities in 2013 was
its first foray into the business of halfway houses. Since then, its
investment in the sector has grown. It currently owns or runs 25 halfway houses with more than 5,000 beds in six states.
Inmates assigned to halfway houses are typically nearing the end of
their sentences. Some are allowed to leave the facility to go work,
while others prepare for employment in training programs and counseling.
Catherine Mendonca, a women's rights activist who will fast alongside
Bartlett, wonders whether CCA's San Diego facilities are fulfilling
their promise to help inmates prepare for freedom. "If they're getting
proper nutrition, if they're getting opportunities to actually get a
job—all of these are actually questionable," Mendonca says. "Is this
actual rehabilitation? Or is this something to profit off the backs of
those incarcerated?" This story has been updated.

This narrative was a tall order for Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) to pull off for a number of reasons.
The media had to convince people that Donald Trump was something
other than the self-centered bully he had portrayed and branded himself
as.
The media also had to convince people that Trump, a billionaire who
achieved most of his wealth as the ultimate insider, was an “outsider”
who wanted to change the very system that made him wealthy.
To change these attitudes of the public, the media would be required
to run thousands of hours of counter programming; to throw billions of
dollars in free advertising in order to create a New Trump.
The media would have to convince Americans that there was a sizable
group of their fellow citizens who were supporting this obvious puppet
of the very interests he claimed to now oppose.
The media would have to explain WHY it had given a man who boasted
he was worth “10 billion dollars” billions of dollars of FREE
advertising and promotion in the months leading up to the primaries and
during the primaries themselves.
In addition, the media would have to explain WHY none of the other 16 candidates complained that Trump was receiving this in-kind
advertising. The other candidates and their donors were having to raise
millions of dollars to buy the same advertising the media creation of
New Trump was receiving for free.

Trump spends no money on ads because he doesn’t have to. He is a pure

On the other, they lie about it because they have to: the real story
would reveal their true nature, their true purpose and give away the
game when they are oh so very close to their 42-month season of triumph. Donald Trump’s contempt for the press – This is a confusing little narrative which attempts to explain WHY the Corporate Media’s coverage has been so overwhelmingly obsequent; so overwhelmingly dishonest; so overwhelmingly pro-Trump.
In addition, it pretends to offer reasons the media has fallen all
over itself in giving Donald Trump billions of dollars of free,
unmerited media coverage in its attempts to portray Mr Trump as a
candidate with popular appeal.
Despite using all of its many, many ways of shaping, bending,
distorting and shattering the truth, this is one lie most Americans will
find hard to believe.
In fact, the American people ought to file a class action suit
against the government/Corporate Media for printing the libel that they
support Donald Trump.
IF ever there was ONE story which the deceived masses finally shook their heads and shouted “Oh, come on! Even WE don’t believe this!” it’s this whole “The American people can’t help themselves: Donald Trump, Mr TV Billionaire Insider, is one popular guy!” propaganda campaign. Many voters do not know ANYONE who supports (or even likes) Donald Trump-though
the Corporate Media tries to explain this away by proposing that all
Americans live in their “own little world,” isolated from any who think
differently than themselves.
That is because outside of the manufactured world of Corporate Media news, very, very, very, very few do support Donald Trump.
Of course, at some point, Donald Trump will fall by the wayside and
his supposedly rabid supporters will be quickly forgotten by the same
Corporate Media which created him. “Ye are of your father the devil…there is no truth in him. When he
speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the
father of it.”

Satan’s Mouthpiece is naturally good at what it does (deception), so there’s an element of “They’ll believe anything we tell them!”

FIGHTING FOR THE FAITH: Chris Rosebrough is tough on the obviously apostate targets. Others, not so much.
Used to enjoy listening to Chris Rosebrough’s Fighting for the Faith program. Then it was noticed that for someone supposedly contending for the faith, Rosebrough offered comfort to the enemy.
The first disturbing moment came when Rosebrough interviewed Jonathan
Cahn (of the Harbinger). A bigger softball, puff piece interview could
not be imagined. Frankly, it was shocking and made this writer
re-think Fighting for the Faith.
But anyone can make a mistake.
Then it was noticed that Rosebrough picked particularly easy
targets. All of the time. Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, emergent church:
Rosebrough’s a bulldog on the obviously apostate.
In Christian Distractions, Christian Lightning Rods: Obviously Apostate, Obviously Lost,
we covered the easy targets that occupy Christians’ time and give them a
false sense of discernment. Does one even need discernment to know the
Church of Satan is bad?
Not much was said about the easy targets (Joel Osteen, Word of Faith,
emergent church, Church of Satan) providing the basis for a whole
industry of false discernment ministries. But it appears to be the
subject for a necessary future article.
Rosebrough on The New Prophets of Science Fiction Eschatology?
Silence.
In fact, Rosebrough gave comfort and support to Cris Putnam–a dealer
of poison to the Body of Christ and one of the New Science Fiction
Prophets. That was the third strike.
It’s not that Rosebrough can’t do good work, he can. And that’s the
problem. When you know that they know better–and yet they don’t.
Still, Truth + Error = Error. That’s Satan’s equation for corrupting
the Church, whether people follow it knowingly or not. Steer clear of

– Here is the media portraying all who wear the Google Glass–the
absolute latest in personal surveillance technology–as cutting edge,

Google Glass, the reader can also be a cutting edge, cool-beyond words
rebel.
Some might say, “But that’s not what I read.”
Fair enough. But remember who this article is written for. It’s
written for future potential purchasers of Google Glass, of whom many,
coincidentally, happen to identify with the self-assertive nerd class. Welcome to the brainiacs club!
